Marti's Breadsticks

I have baked these many times now. And for those who know the way I cook... it has to be simple for me to figure it out. They are SO tasty! Try it! They take less than a 1/2 hour.

1 1/2 c warm water
1T yeast
4 t sugar 1t salt
3 1/2 c flour

Add flour until dough is firm. Roll out on floured surface. Cut into strips.
Melt butter in a cookie sheet, lay breadsticks in butter and sprinkle garlic salt and parmesan cheese on top.

350 degrees until done

Pajama Day

It was “pajama day” at Ashlee’s school. She was SO excited about it. I only had to tell her one time that is was time to get out of bed.

Ashlee lost her two front teeth a few day's ago. The Tooth-Fairy left a silver half dolloars for each tooth!

Carving "Punkins" 2008

We carved pumpkins on Monday for FHE. As soon as the kids found out that it was stinky and slimey inside they wanted to be done. Thanks to Dad we got 2 of the 5 pupkins carved.

This is the picture that Ash drew before Darron cut it out.

Goblin Valley

When the Robbins family does something… it is always at the spur of the moment. The kids were out of school for UEA weekend so we went to breakfast at The One Man Band. Darron mentioned that we should go do something so after a couple of hours we decided to make the trip down to Goblin Valley. Jen and Rob came with us too! We made it to our hotel which was The Ramada in Green River, UT…which was a horrible, and will have to be explained on another post. The kids had fun playing and hiding from each other at Goblin Valley. We went for a hike and found some Geodes, Quarts, and lizards. Robby was disappointed that we didn’t find and snakes.
Below is a slideshow of some pictures that Darron and I took. If you want to see more… check out Robby and Jennie’s blog.

Trap Shooting w/ Young Women

A few weeks ago we went trap shooting with the Young Women.... we had SO much fun! It wouldn't have been possible without Kira and her dad. THANKS KIRA!!! I am SO glad you serving in the Young Women! NOTE: I can't take credit for the slide show... Kira put it together, and I got it off her blog at http://stampsofapproval.blogspot.com/

FHE with the Cousins!

We had all the Utah Robbins over lastnight for FHE. We all went to the famous "Red Barn" in Santaquin to go on a hay ride to the pumpkin patch. After we picked our pumpkins, we went home to eat chili, hot chocolate, and doughnuts. We always love spending time with our extended family.

Hansen's Chili

Connie Hansen is one of the best cooks I have ever met. She owns a small resteraunt in Payson. I knew who to ask when I wanted to cook up some chilli. It was so yummy.

Serves 10, but I doubled it to have leftovers to freeze.
2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 46 oz tomato juice
1 29 oz. tomato sauce
1 ½ cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped celery
¼ cup chopped green peppers
¼ cup chili powder
2 teasp ground cumin
1 ½ teasp garlic powder
1 teasp salt
½ teasp black pepper
½ teasp oregano
½ teasp white or brown sugar
1/8 teasp cayenne pepper
2 cans of kidney beans (drained and rinsed)

1. Brown ground beef until brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
2. Add all ingredients to a large pan. Bring to a boil.
3. Add ground beef and reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Stir occasionally.

(Note: When I browned my burger, I added the veggies to it. And then added the burger & veggies to the sauce.)

This is the Place!!!!

This is the Place!

The kids and I had fun today. To start out… we went out to breakfast. While we were there we were approached by a random guy that obviously had a hard time sleeping on the street last night. He asked me if I wanted to buy his antique table. I told him no thanks, but he insisted on following us into McDonald’s. I was scared, because I knew there is nothing a 5 month old pregnant lady could do with two kids by her side, if he decided to attack us. We ate quickly and then went to “This is the Place” park.
We had a blast on the train and petting the animals. Ashlee LOVES all animals and it shows when she is around them. They thought that all the people in pioneer costume were the real deal. On our way back home, we stopped by IKEA to pick up a few things and eat lunch.
We were all exhausted when we got home, but the kids decided to set up their table and have a tea party. What a day! I can't believe I'm awake and blogging right now.

The shaping of things to come?

After Ashlee left for school this morning Zachary turned on the TV to find something to watch. He watched a little bit of Higgley Town Hero's, but then he got bored. I was cleaning up breakfast and noticed he stopped on Sports Center. He started flipping back and forth from SportsCenter to ESPN2. Ahhhh! he's 4 years old! I would take SportsCenter over some cartoons that are on in the morning. That Hi-5 is enough to drive me insane.

TARANTULAS!!

There have been tarantulas spotted in our neighborhood. People are on the look out! I have been browsing for Christmas presents and I found this remote control tarantula. I am so tempted! Should I get it? Check out my friend Emily's blog to see the spider that they found down the street.

Zachary the HUNTER!

Zachary is full of surprises! He got to go to the fish hatchery with his preschool. And to our surprise he brought home a dead fish in a zip lock baggy. When he got home he ran downstairs to his dad and while he was swishing his fish back and forth in the baggy he asks “Dad, do you want to touch it?” After I took his picture of the fish, he caught a moth in the backyard. After the moth flew away he was on the hunt again for a “hitch-hiker”. For all of you that don’t know what a hitch hiker is…it’s a grasshopper that hops on you for a ride. This was explained to Zachary by his cousin Stephen, when he was out from Georgia.

Every single one of these girls is so cool! When I got called into Young Womens I was SO NERVOUS and overwhelmed! Every Wednesday I wanted to cry because I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. And then a miracle happened…. Kristi, Marti, Beth, Gretchen, Kiera, and Kaydee! These ladies know their stuff, and are so AMAZING. Last Wednesday Kiera had a great idea for Personal Progress, and it was a HUGE success. We called it “Rainbow of Values”. We had stations set up where the girls could pass one thing at one table. First Janelle Carter taught us how to make and roll homemade rolls. They were so yummy! While the rolls were rising the girls went to the other stations. They made collages at one station, scripture reading with journal writing at another, wrote thank you notes to people that have been good examples to them, put a family home evening package at another, learned about the ” integrity”, and even tied a quilt! Whew! Next week we will all be “packing the heat” as we go trap shooting! AND word on the street is we might be getting the winner of the BIGGEST LOSER of last season for a sweet fireside on goal setting.

Go-Cart Fun!

Darron has been talking about getting a go-cart for the kids ever since Ashlee was a baby. We found a good deal on ksl.com so he couldn't resist. The kids LOVE to drive it around the neighborhood, but it’s a toss up on who is having more fun. Darron or the kids!

The Sock Site

Darron just switched the picture on TheSockSite. I think he does a great job at web design. Since I started the site, I still claim it...even though I haven't done done anything with it since '06. Darron has been so busy lately and keeping up with it all! He amazes me everyday!

We took the Young Women in our ward to the Orem Owlz game last night. The Owlz outscored the Ogden Raptors. I should have taken more pictures of the actual game. Ashlee and Zachary came too. We had our own cheering section with Ashlee on our side. She kept yelling at the Raptors pitcher "Raaaggggg AArrrrmmmm!" And when our team was up she would yell... "Take it deep, Perez!"
For Family Home Evening this week we had a lesson on following the spirit's voice. Of course,
my voice was the voice of the spirit that the kids had to follow while they were blindflolded. Darron's voice was evil Satan, trying to get Ashlee and Zachary to make a mistake.
The kids made it through our maze of chairs and stools unharmed.

Some of us went on a 4 wheel rid up to a water fall on Saturday Morning.
Maylee did NOT want to take her helmet off for anything!
They all made it back to the cabin unharmed.

We went out to Joe's Valley last weekend to go canoeing, 4-wheeling and just hang out with the Robbins' clan. Jennie found out that they rent "cabins" for only $45 a night! We had a blast! It was an upgrade from a tent, and we didn't worry about the kids getting attacked by bears in the night.

Can you see the two owls? We saw these guys right off the side of the road.
